Lwang village is located in Kaski district, which is just 30 Km away from the Pokhara city. The village is famous for its homestay program because of its most beautiful surrounding scenery. Lwang village homestay falls under the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), which aims to provide the hygienic food and clean stay to the travelers.
A lwang village is also called a Gurung valley because the village was dominated by the Gurung people. These kindly hearted Gurung people warm welcome visitors to their beautiful typical Nepali homestay made with the stone. You can also find the settlement of Brahmin, Chettri, Tamang, and Newar people in the Lwang village. You will experience the unique culture and lifestyle of lwang people, which you have never seen anywhere around the world. If you are a curious person or want to learn more about the lifestyle of lwang people, then you can participate in the short program, which includes: milking cattle, churning yogurt, and making butter out of milk.
The village community has its own rich music and language, where visitors can only find in Nepal. These unique language and music make the people of lwang different from other people of Nepal.
Besides that, local people of lwang village serve local Nepali cuisine Dal, Bhat, Tarkari, and the local chicken, which tastes so good when you reach the village with an empty stomach. Itinerary:
Day 01: Drive to Lwang village (Lwang Ghalel) . Overnight in Homestay.
Drive 1 and half hrs to Lwang village northwest of Pokhara. The village is perched high up at the altitude of 1,550 m. Mt Fishtail appears undisturbed in the northeastern backdrop of the village. We will stay in one of the community managed homestay with some of the lovely Gurung family and enjoy their hospitality. Meals served are made of local products and fresh from the garden.
Day 02: Visit tea garden, village and canyoning site. Overnight in Homestay.
You can participate and learn the village life, observe feeding and milking cattle, churning of yogurt and making butter, traditional way of grinding cereals to make flour for your meal. Learn about their customs and help them prepare your meal.
Day 03: Drive back to Pokhara.
